Sedation and analgesia are important in emergency and intensive care. It may be for simple procedures in various settings or continuous types during mechanical ventilation. The advantage is also associated with certain risks which are involved with both sedation and analgesia. Various drugs are available in the present era but choosing an agent for sedation and analgesia in a child is important. This book contains 36 chapters in ten sections. Book has covered each aspect from indications of sedation and analgesia in outpatient settings to indoor settings to the pharmacology of various drugs, special procedures like ECMO, traumatic brain injury, neonatal sedation, and palliative care. A special chapter on neuromuscular blockade has also been written in the book. Chapter on how to choose sedatives has also been well elaborated. Chapter on Simulation in pediatric procedural sedation by Deshpande is nicely written. This book is must to read for those who are working in emergency and intensive care.
