The scope of respiratory care therapy has increased over the years with the advancement in critical care. Thus, the scope of skills and information is increasing. This book contains 58 chapters in 7 sections. Each chapter has defined objectives, outlines, key terms, and summary checklist. In this new edition, several chapters have been added such as heart failure, ethics, and end of life issue. Section 1 describes foundation of respiratory care which is essential to understand. Bedside assessment of the patient is nicely written chapter for the beginners. Section on basic therapeutics and acute and critical care has been discussed nicely. Book contains the issue of pediatric consideration as required. Chapter on respiratory care in alternative settings is need of hour and has been covered nicely. Alternative health-care settings offer advantages over acute care facilities – advantages that include lower costs and enhanced patient comfort. However, improper or premature discharging of patients to alternative care settings and poor care planning and implementation can erase these benefits and result in short-term readmission. This book is highly recommended for those who are working in respiratory care units.
